Mrs Annapoorna Bandaru, a biology teacher at International Indian School, Jeddah scaled Mount Elbrus,( 5642m) the highest peak in Russia and Europe on 19 August 2024. She started mountaineering at the age of 23, although once considered a male dominated sport and female participants steadily increasing, she ardently desires to conquer all the highest peaks in the world. To her credit, she has already scaled Mount Kilimanjaro.
She started training rigorously for this climb a month earlier. Along with her teammates, her ascent to the peak from the base camp began on 16 August 2024.
Her next mission is to climb Mount Aconcagua.
